Alexandria defenseman Dokken signs NAHL tender
February 27, 2019
The Alexandria Blizzard of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Joe Dokken has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Brookings Blizzard of the NAHL’s Central Division.
Dokken, 18, is in his first season of playing junior hockey in the NA3HL and has had a great first season thus far. The 6’2/190 lbs. native of Woodbury, Minnesota, is tied for 4th in team scoring and leads all Blizzard defensemen with 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) in 40 games played.
Dokken also made his NAHL debut in October with the Minot Minotauros, appearing in one game during the 2018-19 season.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL for the Blizzard, Dokken played three seasons of varsity hockey in Minnesota for East Ridge High School, totaling 30 points in 71 career games.
He is the second player from the Alexandria Blizzard this season who has signed an NAHL tender.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
