Oregon and Gillette claim Game 1 wins on Wednesday
Central Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Oregon 6 @ Peoria 5 (Oregon leads series, 1-0) – The Tradesmen erased a 4-1 and a 5-2 deficit to come from behind and defeat the Mustangs in Game 1, 6-5. Sam VanderHoeven had a hat-trick and an assist in the win. Things were looking good for Peoria thanks to a four-goal 1st period with Tristan Trudel, Jackson Gram, Perry Lagatuz, and Jaycob Bland all lighting the lamp for Peoria, while Abe Laggis had the lone goal for the Tradesmen. In the 2nd period, VanderHoeven scored his first to cut the lead down to 4-2, but Peoria answered right back with a goal from Hubert Guzy to make it a 5-2 game. It was all Oregon after that as they scored four unanswered goals to win 6-5 as Jason Tenezaca scored later in the 2nd period and then three goals in the 3rd period, including two more from VanderHoeven and the game-winner from Gunnar Schiffmann secured the comeback. Austin Bartell picked up the win in goal as he came in relief after the 1st period. Nahuel Veyan took the loss with 11 saves.
Frontier Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Gillette 4 @ Bozeman 1 (Gillette leads series, 1-0) – Wild goalie Jake Turek made 34 saves to lead his team to a 4-1 road win in Bozeman in Game 1 of the Frontier Division Semi-Finals. The Wild opened up an early 1-0 lead just 2:30 into the game as Caleb Sanborn scored. After a scoreless 2nd period, the Wild seized control in the 3rd period with three goals as Declan Young, Will Blake, and Isaac Young all scored. Liam Massie had the lone goal for the Icedogs in the loss. Bozeman goalie Cameron Milewski made 43 saves in the losing effort.
