Alexandria defenseman Senden signs NAHL tender

The Alexandria Blizzard of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Karsten Senden has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks of the NAHL’s East Division.

Senden, 20, just completed his 2nd season playing junior hockey in the NA3HL and 2nd appearing in an Alexandria sweater. Senden began his NA3HL career in the 2021-22 season with the rival Granite City Lumberjacks, playing in 18 games and recording 5 points. He then went on to play 8 games for the Blizzard that season where he tallied 2 assists. 

This season the Anchorage, Alaska native appeared in 43 regular season games in Alexandria, scoring 6 goals and dishing 16 assists. He also had a goal in 9 games in the 2023 Fraser Cup playoffs, ultimately falling short in the Fraser Cup championship. 

Prior to playing in the NA3HL, the 6’2 200 lbs. defenseman played for the Little Caesars and Oakland Jr. Grizzlies youth programs, as well as playing for Eagle River High in Alaska.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2023 NAHL Draft.
