Mason City forward Lenz signs NAHL tender

June 21, 2023

The Mason City Toros of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Dakota Lenz has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.

Lenz, 19, just finished up his first season in the NA3HL. The Urbandale, Iowa native began the season with the Granite City Lumberjacks where he scored a goal and 5 points in 7 games. Lenz went on to finish the season with the Toros where he recorded 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) in 23 regular season contests. He also buried one goal in three 2023 Fraser Cup Playoff games.

In the 2021-22 season, Lenz got his first taste of playing in the NAHL. He made his NAHL debut with the St. Cloud Norsemen on April 2nd of 2022 where he scored his first goal against the Austin Bruins.

Prior to playing junior hockey, Lenz played three seasons in the NAPHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers AAA 18U and 16U programs.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2023 NAHL Draft.
