Gillette forward Solig makes NCAA commitment

The Gillette Wild of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Sky Solig has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of Dubuque.

Solig, 21, just completed his second and final season playing in the NA3HL for the Wild. The 5’11/181 lbs. native of Bismarck, ND, was third in team scoring during the 2022-23 season with 61 points (30 goals, 31 assists) in 40 games played.

He was also selected to and played in the 2023 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Frontier Division team where he had two goals in two gamed played. He also recorded five points in five Fraser Cup Playoff games.

“The countless hours of dedication, determination, and hard work have paid off, and he's embarking on an exciting new chapter of his hockey career. While we'll deeply miss his presence in the locker room and on the ice, we are excited to watch his journey unfold at the University of Dubuque,” said Wild head coach Ethan Hayes.

During his rookie season in 2021-22, Solig recorded 46 points (22 goals, 24 assists) in 36 games played and added another six points in seven Fraser Cup Playoff games.

He also was selected to and played in the 2022 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for Team Blue.

Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Solig played three seasons of high school hockey for Warroad High.
