NA3HL announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week

DALLAS, TEXAS – The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending January 28th. The Divisional Stars of the Week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the five divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches. 

 Earning NA3HL weekly honors are Hunter Nelson (Wisconsin Woodsmen), Jory Veenstra (New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings), Gavin Barr (Helena Bighorns), Brendan Forden (Texas Brahmas) and Luke Robertson (Mason City Toros). 

Central Division Star of the Week: Hunter Nelson, Forward, Wisconsin Woodsmen

Woodsmen forward Hunter Nelson was red-hot over the weekend totalling ten points in two games. The Jamestown, ND native started the weekend off with a six point night, netting a goal and dishing out six assists. In the following contest, the 5’8”/ 160 lbs forward scored a goal and handed out three assists. This season Nelson has played in 33 games where he has produced 37 points. 

2nd Star: Collin Lemanski, G, Wausau Cyclones

East Division Star of the Week: Jory Veenstra, Forward, New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings

New Hampshire forward Jory Veenstra had a strong weekend where he appeared in two games to combine for 6 points. The Kansas City, MO native started the weekend off with a five point game, adding a goal and four assists, then followed up that performance with a one assist night to end the weekend. Veenstra has played in 31 games this season where he has scored 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points. 

2nd Star: Peter Alfano, G, Norwich Sea Captains

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Gavin Barr, Forward, Helena Bighorns

Helena forward Gavin Barr was instrumental in the Bighorns weekend sweep over Butte where he totalled 7 points. The Colorado Springs, CO native netted two goals and handed out an assist to start off the weekend. The next night, the 5’10” / 175 lbs forward dished out four assists. Barr has appeared in 25 games this year where he has totalled 39 points.

South Division Star of the Week: Brendan Forden, Goalie, Texas Brahmas

Brahams goaltender Brendan Forden picked up back-to-back wins to earn the South Division Star of the Week. The Plano, TX native faced forty shots over two games, only allowing three goals. Forden combined for a 1.50 GAA and a .925 SV%. So far this season, Forden has played in 17 games where he holds a record of 10-4-1-1, a 1.94 GAA and a .916 SV%. 

2nd Star: Mackenzie Bolger, F, El Paso Rhinos

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jack Arnold, D, New Mexico Ice Wolves – Jake Arnold, F, Texas RoadRunners – Sam Bailey, F, Texas Brahmas – Jackson Cox, D, Texas RoadRunners –Aldiyar Irik, F, Atlanta Capitals – Landon Kusuno, D, New Mexico Ice Wolves – Peter Pawlanta, F, Austin Ice Bats – Brett Phillips, D, Atlanta Capitals – Garrett Reagan, D, El Paso Rhinos – Gorial Yaro, G, Austin Ice Bats

West Division Star of the Week: Luke Robertson, Forward, Mason City Toros 

Mason City Toros forward Luke Robertson tallied three points over two games to earn the West Division Star of the Week. In Friday night's 3-1 win over Alexandria, the Fort Wayne, IN native scored two goals. In the following showing, Robertson added an assist. Robertson has appeared in 37 games for the Toros this season and has totalled 32 points.
