Saturday Scores: Cyclones, Ice Wolves Clinch Division Titles

Adam Severson scored on a penalty shot in overtime to give Gillette the win and snap Helena's 30 game win streak

Norwich 5 @ New Jersey 4: The Sea Captains scored at least a goal in all three periods en route to a 5-4 road victory over New Jersey. Zane Mazzola and Nicholas Trabb buried 1st period goals for the Titans while Erik Masengill and Brian Essing provided answers for Norwich. Glen Farmer tallied a pair of goals minutes apart in the middle frame while Elijah White did the same for the Titans. Masengill’s second of the game eight minutes into the 3rd proved to be the decider. Riley Gorman kept out 28 shots in the victory while Aver Rovira-Hewitt made 46 saves for the Titans. 

 

Wisconsin 4 @ St. Louis 0: Kirill Guryev went a perfect 25 for 25 between the pipes for Wisconsin in their 4-0 shutout victory over St. Louis. Landen Schwantes and Daniels Ratkevics put the visitors up a pair of goals early, both scoring before the midway point of the opening period. Nolan-James Mix scored in the 2nd to extend the lead. Jack Laser provided more insurance just over a minute into the final frame. Matyas Bajgar kept out an impressive 54 saves in the loss. 

 

Texas B 5 @ Mid Cities 0: The Texas Brahmas dominated their matchup against Mid Cities, shutting them out 5-0. Sam Bailey opened the scoring late in the 1st with his 19th goal of the season. Chase Forry doubled the lead late in the middle frame. Joey Crowley, Kaden Spaniol, and Bailey furthered the lead in the 3rd with goals. Brendan Forden picked up the shutout stopping 13 shots. Kameron Ragon made 38 saves for the Jr. Stars. 

 

New Hampshire 3 @ Long Beach 1: New Hampshire scored in every period in their 3-1 road victory over the Sharks. Jory Veenstra broke the deadlock with his 21st goal of the season. In the 2nd, the Mountain Kings extended their lead off the stick of Jake Rossignol before Chris Keller got Long Beach on the board. Kam Young put the finishing touches on the win with a goal late in the final frame. Jake Agoglia kept out all but one of 24 shots faced in the win. Colten McIntyre made 54 saves for Long Beach.

 

Danbury 0 @ Northeast 3: The Northeast Generals shut out Danbury 3-0 thanks to returning player Matthew Nuzzolilo tallying a pair of goals. He netted his 1st just 15 seconds into the contest, adding the 2nd five minutes into the 2nd period. Sean Gorman made the lead three late in the final frame to seal the victory. Mike Foglia picked up the shutout making 16 saves. Chris Panza was busy in Danbury’s crease, making 53 saves in the loss.

 

Louisiana 9 @ Austin 1: The Louisiana Drillers out muscled the Austin Ice Bats in a 9-1 final score. The Drillers came out hot in the first period adding five goals with Dominic Toews scoring twice, Jonathan Berndt scoring twice, and Brody Neish. In the second, the Drillers kept their foot on the gas adding three more goals for a 8-0 lead with Carson Shafor, Cheeno Gryska and Ethan Littlefield. In the third, Jake Bergstrom netted the final Drillers goal for a 9-0 lead. Late in the period Will Dyker got one for Austin. Drillers goalie Jakob Barcelona stopped 15 tries on net. 

 

Wausau 6 @ West Bend 3: The Wausau Cyclones topped the West Bend Power in a 6-3 final. The first period ended tied 1-1 with Jack Dawley scoring for Wausau and Tommy Kundinger for West Bend. In the second, the Cyclones broke the tie adding two goals from Connor Dvorak for a 3-1 lead. West Bend got within a goal with Bryce Garber scoring. Then late in the period, Adam Wiggins netted another goal for a 4-2 Wausau lead. In the third, the Cyclones added two more with Ricky Nelson and Mario Savino making the score 6-2. Tommy Kundinger added his second of the night and the final goal of the game. Wausau goalie Tanner Bonjernoor stopped 44 shots in the win. 

 

El Paso 2 @ Texas Ro 3: The Texas RoadRunners added a third period goal to get the win over the El Paso Rhinos, 3-2. Texas added two in the first period with Noah Easterson and Brandon Wicker for a 2-0 lead. In the second, the Rhinos answered back with Zach Ware and Trevor Stenglein for a 2-2 score. In the third, Noble Cook scored the game winner for a 3-2 final. RoadRunners goalie Krzystof Jakubowski stopped 35 shots in the win. 

 

Peoria 2 @ Oregon 4: The Oregon Tradesmen picked up a 4-2 win against the Peoria Mustangs. The Tradesmen had a strong first period adding three goals from Zack Slinger, Erick Bachtle, and Sam Knight while Peoria scored a goal with Robin Kuusik. In the second, Peoria added their second goal of the game from Zachary Lascasse for a 3-2 score. In the third, Reid Watson netted a late goal for the win, 4-3. Oregon goalie Dylan Posch stopped 32 shots in the win. 

Mason City 2 @ Granite City 8: Eight different Lumberjacks found the back of the net as they defeated the Toros 8-2. Parker Mitchell led the way with three points while Thomas Gerum, Jack Louko and Finn Greeley each had a goal and an assist. Christian Carto, Justin Lesser, TJ Lepisto and Connor Miller all found the back of the net for Granite City as well. Nolan Christy and Miles Berg tallied goals for Mason City. Ryan Lehet needed just 18 saves to win the game in goal while Drew Blake stopped 33 shots in the loss for the Toros.

Helena 3 @ Gillette 4 (OT): Adam Severson was the overtime hero as he scored on a penalty shot to pick up the hat trick and seal the win for the Wild. With the three goals, Severson now has 42 goals on the year. Isaac Young had a goal and two helpers for Gillette. Cam Young, Gavin Barr and Patrick Crooks provided the offense for Helena as they saw their 30 game winning streak come to an end. Weston Gerke took home the victory in net with 40 saves. Jesse Schindel was saddled with the loss as he ended the night with 43 saves.

Great Falls 4 @ Badlands 2: The Great Falls Americans jumped into a playoff spot as Dmitri Kuleshov notched a hat trick in the 4-2 victory. Zach Orwig had a goal and an assist for Great Falls. Peyton Wilson and Zach Vockler each got on the scoresheet for the Sabres. Kaden Rhyder was amazing for the Americans as he ended the night with 51 saves while Easton Eriksmoen was dealt the loss, he made 29 stops.

Sheridan 7 @ Butte 2: Kiefer Dunham logged a hat trick as the Sheridan Hawks knocked off the Butte Irish 7-2. Ayden Attungana had a goal and three assists while Tanner Freed chipped in four assists on the evening. Danill Viscu and Josh Serino each had a goal and an assist while Mac Billings also found the back of the net. Kazden Stineff and Andrew Brown scored for Butte in the loss. Zach Broxterman was the winner in the blue paint as he made 23 saves. Nicholas Ulyanov was given the loss despite stopped 49 shots.

Yellowstone 0 @ Bozeman 12: Bryce Sturm and Kody Wallenberg each had a goal and three helpers as the Bozeman Icedogs beat the Yellowstone Quake 12-0. Mattias Godfrey and Bodie Shepardson each had two goals and an assist. Magnus Lowham potted a pair of goals while Dominik Hauer and Joe Kline each had a goal and a helper. Aidan Clements also lit the lamp for Bozeman. Isaac Weatherford picked up the shutout in goal as he stopped all 22 shots he faced while John Hughes stopped 42 shots for Yellowstone.
